Dibasic Ester
Dibasic ester (DBE) is an ester derived from a dicarboxylic acid. Depending on its intended use, the alcohol component can be methanol or higher molecular weight monoalcohols. Commercially, mixtures of various methyl dibasic esters are produced from short-chain acids like adipic acid, glutaric acid, and succinic acid. These esters are non-flammable, easily biodegradable, non-corrosive, and possess a mild, fruity odor.
